This paper presents a new dataset on electoral systems and outlines its potential uses in further research exploring the connections between electoral systems and economic outcomes. The dataset provides indicators of the degree to which individual politicians can further their careers by appealing to narrow geographic constituencies on the one hand, or party constituencies on the other.

This paper investigates the distribution of crime and violence across victims in Colombia. Property and violent crimes as well as incidents of domestic violence are considered. Assessing the effects of corruption and crime on firm performance
(2000-12)
The paper finds that corruption and crime substantially reduces sales growth. These effects are apparent even after firm characteristics country fixed effects are taking into account. Corruption, and in particular crime, also lowers in investment and employment growth, though these effects are smaller and not always statics significant.
